Global Consensus: Israel, and the United States, are Committing Genocide

“Make no mistake, Israel is a genocidal state and a genocidal society…The fight for Palestine is the fight for all of us.”
– Pulitzer Prize winning author Chris Hedges

Now that there is international consensus that Israel, and the United States, are committing Genocide, I can’t help but think of all of the depraved individuals, and vegan organizations, who claim to be about justice and compassion for all, yet have remained silent, or worse, during one of the darkest periods of our existence. Their continued indifference to human life is astonishing. Where is the moral consistency? Knowing that silence is complicity, I am also thinking of a few genocide denying friends that I have lost in the last 2 years as well, who surprised me with their racist, and sociopathic beliefs. Driven by ignorance and fear, not one was interested in critical thinking, or the truth. According to Maura Finkelstein, “Ideas of Jewish supremacy have been central to the Zionist movement from its beginning. Just as we call out white supremacy in the United States, we must call out Jewish supremacy in occupied Palestine…Jewish supremacy is at the heart of the Zionist project”. In other words, Israel being a satanic, Jewish supremacist state, has led to its weaponization of anti-Semitism, dehumanization of Palestinians, and its decades long mass murder campaigns. As a result, Israel has become both a “genocidal state, and genocidal society”. As per author, and activist Susan Abulhawa, “Israel is committing the holocaust of our time, and it is doing it in full view of a seemingly indifferent world. Gaza has rightly been described as “a graveyard for children,” but Gaza will also be the graveyard of western hegemony, along with the slogans and institutions that sustain it.”

Writer, and comedian Lee Camp, and journalist Jared Keyel, both do superb work. They have each compiled lists of the major human rights organizations, and other highly respected associations, groups, and individuals, who have all concluded that Israel is committing a genocide in Gaza.

Here are excerpts from Jared Keyel’s superb article, Consensus Finally Reached: Israel is Committing Genocide:

“For nearly two years, the Israeli military has been relentlessly obliterating everything in Gaza. That destruction has not been hidden. The Palestinians who live in Gaza, the majority of whom are refugees forced to flee what became Israel in 1948, have been documenting every moment of the carnage. And in fact, Israeli soldiers have gleefully shared photos and videos of themselves destroying everything they see. The Israeli government has openly and repeatedly declared its intent to annihilate Palestinians.

For decades, Israel has denied it planned and carried out ethnic cleansing in 1948. It has insisted that the Nakba—the permanent expulsion of 750,000 Palestinians by Zionist militias—was actually the fault of everyone but Israel. Now, nearly 80 years later, Israeli politicians at the highest level openly plot to ethnically cleanse all of Gaza. It has been clear since October 7, 2023 that the current Israeli assault is the culmination of more than 140 years of colonization, dispossession, expulsion, and repeated massacres. This is genocide.

Yet, despite the overwhelming evidence that Israel’s actions have nothing to do with “self-defense” nor is the ongoing slaughter “just a war,” many continue to deny the reality of the situation. However, there is now a public consensus among the major human rights organizations in the world. Palestinians and Palestinian organizations have been at the forefront of imploring the world to recognize what is happening and to act. Al-Haq, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights, and Al-Mezan Center for Human Rights have been documenting Israel’s crimes for years. Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), and many other organizations have now carefully assessed the best available evidence and determined that Israel is committing genocide…

Even if Israel is found guilty at the ICJ, genocide denial will continue. Many of those who support Israel’s actions will not be convinced by facts. In that case, we need to build the power necessary to confront and challenge those who defend genocidal violence. The ideological and propaganda apparatuses dedicated to obfuscating and denying reality are finally beginning to show cracks. We need to exploit and further break open those fissures. “Stand with Israel” dead-enders will be judged the same as any other genocide supporters and enablers throughout history.

The State of Israel, like many countries, was founded on crimes against humanity. Its project of exclusionary ethno-religious nationalism is a 19th-century anachronism that has brought untold death and destruction. It will fail. Israel’s live-streamed genocide is its undoing. Every pretense has been stripped away. Israel as its supporters imagine it never existed, and even that fantasy is gone.

Like the American genocide of Indigenous peoples, the erasure of Palestine and Palestinians, literally and figuratively, is intrinsic to Israel’s existence. But there is no going back. Palestinians will be free, and what the ICJ calls Israel’s “institutionalized régime of systematic oppression and domination of one racial group over another” will be dismantled in favor of equality and democracy. It is only a matter of time.” – Jared Keyel

Despite the overwhelming evidence presented above, and international consensus that the US-Israeli genocide in Gaza is one of the worst crimes in human history, obstacles to peace, and justice, remain. The United Nations Security Council
recently voted to further punish our Palestinian brothers and sisters in Palestine and endorse the Trump-Israeli Gaza plan.

The Electronic Intifada, and Human Rights Attorney Craig Mokhiber, continue to do outstanding work. In this interview, Mr. Mokhiber eviscerates the United Nations Security Council.
Excerpt: “More than two years into the genocide in Palestine, the UN Security Council has finally acted. But rather than acting to enforce international law, protect the victims, and hold the perpetrators accountable, it adopted a resolution that openly flouts key provisions of international law, disempowers and further punishes the victims, and rewards and empowers the perpetrators. Obviously this resolution is a real direct assault on the Palestinian people, on their human rights, and their hopes of liberation…it envisages that Israeli forces will remain indefinitely in the so-called security perimeter, which as you know, includes some of the most important land in Gaza, some of the most fertile land in Gaza, leaving the Palestinians in the sand of the beach overall. And it gives them not only a two-year mandate, but the possibility of an extension once again in consultation with Israel, but not with Palestine. Israel and Egypt, but not not with Palestine. It’s absolute insanity. It’s unlawful. And it needs to be opposed by everybody.” – Human Rights Attorney Craig Mokhiber

“This shameful resolution on Gaza by the UN Security Council is fundamentally inconsistent with international law. It is a colonial fantasy which has little precedent in the UN’s history. It will likely fail and must be rejected by all states and individuals.”
– Independent UN expert Balakrishnan Rajagopal, echoing widespread condemnation.

“I wonder now how the foreign policies of the United States would look if we wiped out the national boundaries of the world, at least in our minds, and thought of all children everywhere as our own. Then we could never drop an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, or napalm on Vietnam, or wage war anywhere, because wars, especially in our time, are always wars against children, indeed our children.”
– Howard Zinn

Final Thoughts

For the record, the United States has murdered between 20-30 million innocent people since World War II, and not one US president or official has ever been held accountable. Unfortunately, these numbers only tell part of the story, and do not include the millions of Native Americans, African Americans, Japanese civilians, and countless others whose lives, and ancestral connections, were also destroyed by the US Empire. A wiser nation would offer reparations, and try humility, rather than double down on its most heinous crimes.

The US also murders over 10 billion animals per year (the most, per capita, of any major power in the world), in order to satisfy its flavor preferences, and to profit from human sickness, and animal misery. But like the US-Israeli genocide in Gaza, most Americans don’t care because animal and human suffering have been normalized, along with the loss of good health, a pristine planet, a promising future, and what remains of our sorry souls.

The US-Israeli genocide in Gaza is one of the worst crimes in human history. Israel, and the United States, MUST never be forgiven, and Israel MUST be dismantled. Benjamin Netanyahu (Benjamin Mileikowsky), Joe Biden, Antony Blinken, Donald Trump, and all of their accomplices MUST be tried for War Crimes, and Genocide, and held to the same standards as the Nazis at Nuremberg. According to Brown University, in the two years since October 7, 2023, the U.S. government has spent $21.7 billion on military aid to Israel. Instead of supporting the US-Israeli Genocide, and the mass murder campaigns of our brothers and sisters in Palestine, imagine what could be done with $21.7 billion, especially when US homelessness, child poverty, suicide, and food insecurity rates are at all time highs. According to Feeding America, $1 million could potentially provide food for 10 million individuals.

“There is a destiny that makes us brothers,
None goes his way alone
All that we send into the lives of others
Comes back into our own.”
