The United States and Israel have launched an unprovoked, illegal, and immoral war on Iran, which has already killed over 3,100 innocent people, including hundreds of children (nearly 1,000 fatalities have also been reported in Lebanon due to similar Israeli attacks). There appears to be three reasons for the latest round of US-Israeli war crimes, and mass murder campaigns in Iran:
(1) The attacks are a distraction from the Epstein files and the overwhelming evidence that implicates Trump, and the Epstein class, as pedophiles, and war criminals (apparently, Trump’s name appears more times in the Epstein files, than the name Jesus appears in the Bible!) (2) Israel, the 2nd largest agent of terror in the world (behind only the US), is the tail that wags the dog (according to Professor Jeffrey Sachs, Israel has mostly controlled US foreign policy for over 30 years, and has wanted the US to attack Iran for decades). (3) US Hegemony. The United States would rather destroy all life, than give up on controlling all life.

The United States Targets and Murders Children

Among the first acts of war (crimes), committed by the US military inside Iran were the deliberate missile strikes on an all girls’ school, which massacred at least 168 people, most of whom were CHILDREN. The US military didn’t stop there, as it also targeted, and murdered rescue workers as well. 

Geopolitical analyst, and arms control specialist, Scott Ritter, continues to do excellent work. 
Here is an excerpt from a piece he wrote called, “The Backpack Girls”:
“The attack on the Shajareh Tayyebeh school in Iran was a clear cut war crime. Will Pete Hegseth (US Secretary of War), ever be brought to justice for his role in murdering 168 innocent lives? A total of 168 persons were killed in the US TLAM attack on the “Shajareh Tayyebeh” school. Most of the dead were children. Sixty nine of the bodies were so badly mutilated or burned that positive identification could not yet be made. 94 others were wounded in the attack. Let there be no doubt that the attack on the “Shajareh Tayyebeh” school was a war crime of the most heinous sort. The law of war is quite clear—school’s are exclusively civilian targets that cannot be targeted. In this case, the school had been physically separated from the adjacent abandoned military facility. There were no Iranian missiles hidden on school grounds. Just the “backpack girls” and their teachers. This attack was not an accident. It was the byproduct of deliberate measures undertaken to eliminate mechanisms designed to prevent this very sort of incident from happening, while encouraging a new military ethos which downplayed rules and strongly emphasized lethality.”

Lifetime criminal, Donald Trump, was asked about the U.S. strike on the girls’ school in Iran, and blamed Iran. Trump suggested that Iran must have gotten its hands on a Tomahawk missile in order to blow up its own children (sure, because every country seeks weapons to blow up their own children, right?). He also had this to say, “I think it’s something that I was told is under investigation. But Tomahawks are used by others, as you know. Numerous other nations have Tomahawks. They buy them from us. But I will certainly — whatever the report shows, I’m willing to live with that report.” Imagine that. Nearly 200 innocent people murdered by the United States in multiple deliberate strikes on a school (the vast majority of whom were children), and the ignorant, genocidal Trump, declares that he is “willing to live” with it. Impeachment is not enough. The feeble-minded convicted felon, Donald Trump, and his accomplices, must be held accountable too (for genocide, war crimes, sexual assault of women and girls, crimes against humanity, etc.). The US-Israeli attacks on Iran, and Lebanon, are just extensions of the US-Israeli Genocide in Palestine, which continues to be one of the worst crimes in human history.

Speaking of solidarity, I was proud to join peace activists for another Stop the War on Iran demonstration in NYC. It was a last minute call, but many people still showed up to express their love, and support, for our brothers and sisters in Iran.

The United States of America truly is a failing, EVIL Empire. The US has slaughtered, and dehumanized TENS of MILLIONS of innocent people over the last 250 years, and any pretense of humanity, or decency that may have remained has been completely eviscerated since October 7, 2023. The US-Israeli Genocide in Gaza that ensued, as well as the illegal US-Israeli attacks on neighboring countries in the region, have changed everything, and brought us all closer to the end of our existence. If US leaders and officials had just once been held accountable for their heinous crimes over the decades (Native American Genocide, Slavery, the deliberate use of nuclear weapons against civilians in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, murderous sanctions, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the illegal US led post 9/11 wars, the US-Israeli Genocide in Palestine, etc.), perhaps we wouldn’t be closer than ever before to World War 3, and nuclear annihilation.

Only 21% of Americans support the War on Iran.

Steven Donziger is a human rights and environmental attorney who won a $10 billion lawsuit against Chevron for its merciless destruction of ancestral lands in South America. Unfortunately, due to the US being an Evil Empire, it was only Donziger who served time in prison! Mr. Donziger believes that Trump and the supremacist billionaire class have attacked Iran in order to distract from both the Epstein scandal, and their own corruption.

First, Trump is now using forever wars (which he derided when campaigning) to try to keep us distracted from the Epstein scandal and his own family’s fleecing of the country. Much of that wealth was generated through a cryptocurrency scheme that screwed thousands of unsuspecting investors. In today’s episode of the Dems are totally useless, almost a whole whopping 30 of ‘em in Congress have called for an internal investigation into hundreds of complaints by US troops that the US-Israeli war on Iran has been framed to them as a biblical prophecy to hasten the return of Jesus Christ. And while they call for an internal investigation, they continue to vote for the actually psychopathic war to continue, EVEN as they also admit that following a closed-door meeting with the administration, there is clearly no plan for the war on Iran. As per the Legendary Ralph Nader (from the same interview), “You’re describing what John Kenneth Galbraith called the contented classes. These people (in the US congress, and the US Senate), are in the upper income. They don’t have to worry about health insurance. They don’t have to worry about getting a mortgage on their home and being able to pay every month. They don’t have to worry about unemployment compensation. They’re part of the rich upper class, number one. Number two, they don’t even listen to their own progressive wing. Now, just this week, the Joint Economic Committee came out with a devastating report on Medicare Advantage. Medicare Advantage is a nice word to indicate the corporate takeover of Medicare. They have now unrebutted, put millions of dollars on ads, inducing uninformed elderly people to sign up for Medicare Advantage, which we’ve called over our programs Medicare Disadvantage. The report that just came out, backed by Republicans and Democrats, of the Joint Economic Committee, said that there are billions and billions of dollars of overcharges every year and that everybody in Medicare, traditional Medicare or Medicare Disadvantage, is paying the bill. So what else do they (the democrats), need? Now are they going to take the lead on this? Of course not. They were part of the cabal in the Congress that created Medicare Disadvantage, the Democrats and Republicans. Just the way as you point out in your column, they are joined at the hip with the Republicans on an unlimited military budget, giving the generals more than they asked for, adding to the military budget request from both parties’ administrations. 

A definition of disappointment: Bernie Sanders

Well, let’s zero in on the progressives, including two you worked with, Bernie Sanders and AOC (Alexandria Ocasio Cortez). The Democratic Party, among its other suicidal decisions, has cut off for years now the connections with progressive citizen groups and progressive unions. It’s very hard for us to get through to anybody who can make decisions for the party. For example, I knew Bernie Sanders before he was mayor of Burlington. I would go up there speaking at the University of Vermont, get together with him. He hasn’t returned the call in 26 years. The only time I talked to him personally was when I was in the Senate barbershop. He was in the barber chair and he couldn’t move. He is very cordial when you talk to him. He said, let’s have lunch. Call so-and-so in my office, which I did. It never materialized. Now, I’ve always praised Bernie. I’ve suggested things to Bernie. He doesn’t return calls. He doesn’t meet with civic groups and plot strategy the way Senator Paul Wellstone did. He’s more like a Lone Ranger. So I called AOC many times, Jayapal many times. I went and sat in AOC’s office waiting to see her. She’s never returned a call. The only person who returned a call is Rashida Tlaib. And this is true in the House side as well…Had they listened to our proposals, which, you know, not rocket science to the old FDR-type proposals updated, higher minimum wage, a real full Medicare for all single payer, replacing the health insurance industry, cracking down on corporate crooks and corporate crime that are bleeding consumer dollars and consumer savings, revising the whole tax system, which is a monstrosity, where the rich pay less than the middle class, changing foreign policy, cutting the military budget, putting the money into public works, and repairing America, on and on, all wrapped up in something called the Compact for the American People.”

US & European Sanctions have Killed over 38 MILLION innocent people since 1970

Sanctions are another tool that the hegemonic US Empire uses to dominate and control the planet. I was floored to learn that US & European sanctions have killed an estimated 38 million people since 1970.

Jason Hickel is an author and professor of global inequality. According to Professor Hickel, “New research shows that US and European sanctions have killed 38 million people since 1970. The United States and Europe have long used unilateral sanctions as a tool of imperial power, to discipline and even destroy Global South governments that seek to shake off Western domination, chart an independent path, and establish any kind of meaningful sovereignty…During the 1970s, there were, on average, about 15 countries under Western unilateral sanctions in any given year. In many cases, these sanctions sought to strangle access to finance and international trade, destabilise industries, and inflame crises to provoke state collapse.

The US and Europe have dramatically increased their use of sanctions. During the 1990s and 2000s, an average of 30 countries were under Western unilateral sanctions in any given year. And now, as of the 2020s, it is more than 60 – a strikingly high proportion of the countries of the Global South. Sanctions often have a huge human toll. Scholars have demonstrated this in several well-known cases, such as the US sanctions against Iraq in the 1990s that led to widespread malnutrition, lack of clean water, and shortages of medicine and electricity. More recently, US economic warfare against Venezuela has resulted in a severe economic crisis, with one study estimating that sanctions caused 40,000 excess deaths in just one year, from 2017 to 2018. The results are staggering. In their central estimate, the authors find that unilateral sanctions imposed by the US and EU since 1970 are associated with 38 million deaths. In some years, during the 1990s, more than a million people were killed. In 2021, the most recent year of data, sanctions caused more than 800,000 deaths.

According to these results, several times more people are killed by sanctions each year than are killed as direct casualties of war. More than half of the victims are children and the elderly, people who are most vulnerable to malnutrition. The study finds that, since 2012 alone, sanctions have killed more than one million children. Hunger and deprivation are not an accidental by-product of Western sanctions; they are a key objective. This is clear from a State Department memo written in April 1960, which explains the purpose of US sanctions against Cuba. The memo noted that Fidel Castro – and the revolution more broadly – enjoyed widespread popularity in Cuba. It argued that “every possible means should be undertaken promptly to weaken the economic life of Cuba,” by “denying money and supplies to Cuba, to decrease monetary and real wages, to bring about hunger, desperation and overthrow of government”. WTF? I am still floored.

I have great admiration and love for the work of Susan Abulhawa. She is a wonderful writer, thinker, and activist, whose talents have educated, and inspired millions. If you care about humanity, and our brothers and sisters in Palestine, then you will want to learn more from this extraordinary Palestinian-American artist (she is also an accomplished poet). Shame on Zohran Mamdani for playing politics, and throwing Ms. Abulhawa under the bus.

The Bottom Line? Israel is a genocidal state, and a genocidal society. Palestine will never belong to them, and yet with US weapons and financing, Israel has murdered hundreds of thousands of our Palestinian brothers and sisters (nearly half of whom are children), over just the last 2.5 years alone. The satanic state of Israel has been committing an incremental genocide for decades. Likewise, the United States of War has killed MILLIONS of innocent people since 9/11, and tens of millions more in the previous century as well. And now, while both countries are carrying out a Genocide with impunity, each has chosen to expand their madness, and mass murder campaigns, to other countries too. No matter how you dress it up, and no matter how many Americans choose to look away, terrorizing, and destroying life, are what Israel, and the United States do best.   

Sending love to Iran, Palestine, Lebanon, Cuba, Venezuela, and all targets of the hegemonic US empire.
